DIA DE LOS MUERTOS
I always imagined it would be a comfort to keep a lock of hair of my lost loved one, hidden within a piece of jewelry to cary close to my heart. Do you think this notion Macabre? In 16th and 17th-century Europe, Memento Mori jewelry was quite popular. As the Latin name suggests the pieces were meant to remind it's wearers to “be mindful of death” or rather, the fleeting nature of life. This is my version of the Memento Mori jewelry.
I am also fascinated by the Day of the Dead (Dia de los Muertos) which has its origins in Aztec traditions of honoring the dead.
