Myths of the mermaid can be traced back to Babylonian times, when they were represented in sculpture as Oannes, the fish god. These half-human, half-fish creatures were irresistible to sailors, even though they were often associated with bad luck — legends say that mermaids would lure sailors off course with their wiles, sometimes to their deaths.

MATERIALS DETAIL:

  • We no longer use plated material, these necklaces are made to be worn everyday and are hypoallergenic. Some people may still not be able to wear brass, 14k gold or silver do to sensitivity but for most these will not irritate the skin.
  • Argentium silver is tarnish resistant and a wonderful silver to work with, we stand by it if you are not familiar see our silver guide.
  • Jewelers Gold Brass will patina over time and can be cleaned using a polishing cloth, this is a build up on the outside of the pendant. If this is not desired please choose Argentium Silver or 14k Gold instead.
  • All materials will need polishing as we dont use any chemical coating, these are easy to maintain and safe for all ages.

HOW TO CARE: Clean your necklace with a soft cloth or jewelry polishing cloth to remove dirt, oils, and grime. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials that can scratch or damage the material. It is recommended to remove your jewelry chain before sleeping to ensure its longevity and prevent any potential damage.
